Baros joins Villa
Milan Baros passed his medical this morning and signed for Aston Villa this afternoon. I am sure we all wish him the very best at Villa apart from when he plays against us. Baros was unveiled at a press conference this afternoon and spoke about the move.
Baros said: "It is never easy to leave Liverpool but it was made easier by the fact that Aston Villa is a big club. It was a big decision for me in my career but I have made the right decision.
"I never had a personal problem with Rafael Benitez. He prefers other players in his team and that's just the sort of thing that happens in football.
"But even before the Champions League final in Istanbul there was speculation about my future so I was prepared for leaving Liverpool.
"I know Lyon were interested in me but I made it clear I wanted to either stay in England or go to Spain. Villa is a club with history and a great stadium, and a strong squad, and they were also very straight with me. I had no problems in coming here and hope it can help my career.
"I think the manager David O'Leary was first interested in me two years ago so since then I have always followed their results in the league and they have always just finished outside a European place.
"The team is good and I hope we can achieve Europe next season. I think we are capable of it.
"The manager said I am the type of player he was looking for and I hope I can repay his faith in me."
