Simao Liverpool switch looking more likely
Benfica president Luis Vieira has confirmed that they will be selling Simao:
"We know that we will have to sell him, it is just a question of price," said Vieira.
"If Liverpool had come up with £12 million, then he would already have gone."
The quotations suggest that Benfica will be willing to negotiate as it is understood that Rafa will not pay more than £ 8 million.
A deal for Simao collapsed on transfer deadline day when news leaked to Benfica supporters that their idol was leaving. Since then Simao has broken club rules by appearing on television stating his intentions to leave hinting that Liverpool would be his preferred destination. This has made his position at the club difficult.
Rick Parry has confirmed our interest in the player and a deal in the January transfer window now seems very likely especially now Rafa has denied our interest in Joaquin.

My opinion would be try to buy Joaquin as he is established at a higher level,im not sure what the quality of the portugese league is like and i really havent heard much about simao but he played a blinder against man u in the champs league!
I haven't been impressed with Joaquin when I've seen him in the Champions League. Simao has stood out a bit more on the games I've seen him on Channel Five. That said, I don't think we should pay more than we were going to pay in the summer. The deal was done, until they bottled it, why should we pay extra for that.
