Rafa rules out Cisse sale

After pointing out that Cisse was rested for the trip to Sunderland Rafa has explained that it would be very foolish to sell Djib as he does rate him highly:

"Selling Cisse would not make sense in January," he explained. "We are still in the Champions League and where would any club find a replacement for their top scorer who was not cup tied in European competition?
"It would not make sense for anyone to sell a player of such quality in the transfer window with the European Cup still to be contested."

It's great news that Cisse will be staying. As Rafa has pointed out he is our top scorer and I don't think we've come close to seeing the best of Cisse yet.

However Rafa's quotes suggest that he believes Cisse will have an important part to play in helping our defence of the European cup. On that basis he should have a key role to play next season as well.

Im relieved to hear Cisse has some more time but I'd expect him to be shipped out in the summer if he doesnt start playing more for the team. I think thats why Rafa likes Crouch even though he isnt scoring. Cisse needs to find the balance between using his pace and flair, and the rest of his game which is currently lacking. I think if he does, he may be here for many years to come.

The report i read said the quotes were from "a liverpool source", not rafa benitez himself. So he could still go.

I think he will move to marseilles on loan with perhaps an option of an £8 million future fee clause in this one-year loan deal.
