Defenders linked before deadline
There have been reports this morning from BBC Sport and Skysports.com that Dutch International stopper Wilfred Bouma is likely to sign for an English club in the next couple of days. Aston Villa have been strongly linked although Rafa may well be interested as he is the type of player we need, a pacy centreback. According to reports in France we had a loan approach for Philipe Mexes rejected by Roma yesterday. Another story says we are trying to sign Jonathan Woodgate on loan with a view to a permanent move. This sounds unlikely though as he has just made his debut for Madrid and will give him every chance to regain his fitness at the Bernebeau.
We only have until Wednesday to sign the players we need. I am sure that Rafa has something up his sleeve and he has been using the Owen speculation to deflect attention away from other dealings.
Please comment on who you think we should try to sign bearing in mind we have a surprisingly limited budget.

Woodgate made a late appearance in a friendly, he has yet to make an official debut for Real.

I've heard Burnley would do us a good deal on Frank Sinclair as we seem to be so hard up at the moment. Failing that could we persuade Alan 'the legend' Hansen to get his boots on again? If we're lucky he'd take pitty on us and play for free!
I hope RB has something up his sleeve otherwise can you imagine the KOP`s reaction.I do believe that he has what it takes for us to be up there again , so let give some slack as we did for GH.RB you prove the critics wrong once , prove them twice as wrong this time round.
