Is Josemi good enough for Liverpool FC?
After painfully watching Josemi given the run around in Supercup final I have concluded that if he has a future at Liverpool he will need to improve greatly. I love the fact the Josemi shows great bravery and never shirks a tackle. This was typified against Monaco last season when his commitment contributed to a nasty head wound. The problem is he frequently gets caught out of position and makes lots of rash challenges. He seems to have difficulty dealing with tricky opponents and his attacking skills are nowhere near good enough to compensate for these defensive deficiencies.
I believe he may improve if he has a run of games however he will find it hard to displace Steve Finnan as a first teamer and, at present, he does not have the quality required even to be a squad player. I also think that any further performances as a centreback for us will be to the detriment of his development as a right back.
Please share your views on Rafa's first Spanish import.

I agree - he's just not good enough to play for LFC.
We should sell him & use the funda as payment towards a pacey replacement for Sammi Hyppia.
We have been crying out for a pacy defender for a long time. This will allow us to play higher up the pitch without being exposed.
You have no idea what you are talking about mate.
Steve Finnan is the worst Liverpool player we have at the moment. He frequently gives the ball away and is caught out of position more times than anyone. He cannot tackle nor cross the ball.
Josemi is a much better player. He still needs to improve but doesnt everyone?
Josemi looked lost in the Euro supercup!! he's a d!ck kept losing possession and easily beaten but their pacy striker.. I would say sell him as he doesnt worth 3.5M we paid for him !!
Get rid of both (Josemi and Finnan)...Use some of the youngsters instead. They have more heart .I think defence is getting our biggest problem...remember...most attacks starts from the back four. Most off our defenders cant pass a ball....we need at least 2 pacey defenders(with the courage to attack)
i think josemi played really well considering he was out of position at centreback. Finnan however....LAME would be a nice way to describe him. I have never seen what any of our managers saw/see in him, he is clumsy, he cant pass cant tackle cant shoot - why does he still play. id rather we played josemi at centre back and jamie at right back, than have finnan anywhere near our first team squad!
Josemi is a Sh1t player whow needs to be shipped out. Finnan is experienced and is miles better than Josemi. We would do well with keeping Finnan for a few seasons while all the time giving Barragan a good run as well. Josemi has to prove his worth in the reserves before stepping anywhere near the first team bench.
Rafa bought him for 1 M GBP only. If he get a better replacement for him he should be shipped out or loaned out to a premiership team for more experience.
Playing higher up the pitch is great, but Josemi, left the back exposed too often. Maybe experience will cure this problem, but at the level of football Liverpool want to and must be playing is Josemi ready ?? and how many times are we going to pay the price in lost goals/games untill he plays at the required level for our beloved Liverpool ??
I THINK JOSEMI IS NOT A GOOD DEFENDER FOR US ! HE IS A VERY FUNNY PLAYER HE DONT WHERE HE IS GOING TO PLAY THE . HE DONT F**N WORTH THOSE 3.5 MILLION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel that Josemi is more a liabilty then an asset to the Liverpool team. He gets caught out of position too frequently and gives away too many uneccessary freekicks. Not to mention the time he takes to get back after "galloping" down the right flank. The earlier Rafa realizes this, the less will Liverpool be exploited.
I still have faith in Josemi. If you consider the time he's had out with injury, and the fact he hasn't had enough premiership games, the adjustment from the Spanish league to the English is going to take time. At the moment, he's not at the standard we would all like, but there's raw talent lurking in there, he's still quite young after all. I think selling him at the moment would be rather rash, however, a loan spell to another Premiership club could just be what he needs. As for Finnan, he hasn't got the flair we'd all love to see in a Liverpool player, but he's proved to be highly efficient, and more importantly, highly consistent.
Rarely have I seen a so called top class defender caught out of position so many times as Josemi was against CSKA Moscow in the Super Cup Final.
I am very concerned that Rafa has publicly stated his intention to play him more freqiently this season. Sell him to Everton.
