Denied by the Ref against Chelsea Again
Our performance yesterday proved what we already knew, we can match Chelsea. Particularly in the second half we were dominant with our midfield controlling the game and Didi on outstanding form. Our defence looked very solid with Carragher superb as usual. Yet again though it appeared that the officials were under the influence of Abramovich's millions as there were three occasions when penalties could have been awarded. Hyypia looked set for a tap in until he was taken down by Drogba. Replays showed that Drogba was nowhere near the ball. Luis Garcia was ready to open the scoring until he was tugged back by Ferreira although the contact would have been difficult for the ref to see. Most blatant of all though was the handball of Gallas. His hand was outstretched for no reason and the ball clearly struck it. How the ref didn't give a penalty in front of the Kop was a mystery.
Our attacking play is improving although we again struggled to create clear chances, though it must be remembered we were playing against an excellent defence. Most of our efforts were from long range and Petr Cech was not properly tested. The final third is certainly the most difficult area to succeed on the football field. Once our play improves in this area we will be almost unstoppable. Again Cisse suffered by playing on the right of midfield. He looks uneasy playing in this role and offered little to the team. Rafa needs to play him upfront or his morale will be affected.
Overall though the game yesterday should give us the confidence boost required to play even better on Sunday when a victory is vital.

agreed - cue a dubious penalty being awarded chelseas way at the weekend now!
Pool were the home team so are expected to play better and attack! Will be a different story at the bridge! We will prob of increased our 14 points prem lead over you by then aswell!
Playing away against the European champions and we come away with a 0-0 draw. Good result for Chelsea not so good for Liverpool.
As for the so called penalty anyone heard of ball to hand,no way was it delibarate, clutching at straws comes to mind as yet again you failed to score against us.
we certainly played better than a chelsea team tipped beofre the game to win the tie. and ball to hand...maybe, but it stopped what looked like a goal bound effort, drogba flattened hyypia in the first half as well. If the best team in europe doesnt win the champions league then i reckon it will be Chelsea's season cause they look a long way off milan and barca!
how can blatantly holding onto someone in the penalty box, hence why the arm was horizontal be ball to hand - his arm shouldnt have been horizontal in the first place, and if it wasnt, and he wasnt cheating by holding the ball wouldnt have touched his arm!!
bloody typical, we were the better team by far last nite, even ruud gullit and ray wilkins agreed chelscum were shite, and we were robbed by the ref they were 2 blatant pens also agreed by ray wilkins and ex chelscum manager gullit, ball to hand what a load of bollocks, another knob saying wait till you come to the bridge boring boring boring!! we are only 1 yr 3mths into the LFC revival and if i were you id be worried very worried!! and as for mc gobshite mourino the arrogant twat did not even shake rafa's hand at the end of the game!! bring on sunday when we bury you sad arse and send you bck to eating prawn sandwiches at the bridge!!!
LIVERPOOL KINGS OF EUROPE
p.s
can you count to five yet!!!!
ynwa
will somebody told
jose chelsea are yet
to score a goal in
270min againts the
club he rated lowly.
We were far and away the better team in the second half - and Jose knows it. Rafa Benitez is the only manager in the Prem (and possibly in Europe) who knows how to handle Mourinho. Arsene Wenger and Sir Alcy's time is just about up - in the years to come it will be Jose v Rafa dominating the Prem and I think we will be on top. Rafa has a psychological edge - deep down Mourinho is intelligent enough to know that even when they beat us last season it was down to some outrageous luck and small incidents going their way. Tactically he has been out-thought in every single match by Rafa.
Let's hope we can finally turn them over in the league on Sunday. The look on Maureen's face would be priceless.
A litle sobering thought for some of you Liverpool fans who seem to think Chelsea were so shite last night....
We walked away with a point, and I think we all agree we didn't play well. You all say Liverpool were the beatter team and were great..but the score line was 0-0. You all moan about penalty decisions..and thats all you have left, what might have been, not what you created, how many shots on target, how many goals...just whether or not you should have had a penalty (or two).
If Chelsea really up their game, would you be able to stay with them?
