Riise prefers the left back role

John Arne Riise has said that his favourite position is at left back. His performances in the last couple of games have been excellent and he is looking like making the left back position his own:

"It might have been my best match of the season," Riise told VG.
"I feel safer in that position. That gives me confidence and I really look forward to the clashes against Czech Republic.
"I have waited for a while to get the chance at left back again. Not that I dislike to play on the wing, but I feel it is easier to come from behind."
"It has now gone well in two matches in a row and we have kept a clean sheet in both," added Riise.
"We get more space on the road in Europe than in England. The opponents fear us and that suits us fine."

Riise offers the best attacking threat out of all of our left backs and his defending seems to be improving. With Zenden looking better and the return of Kewell, Riise is likely to get lest chances on the left of midfield. The team also have an extra attacking dimension and look more balanced with Riise making overlapping runs and he has the stamina necessary to cover lots of ground.
