Simao flies in to Liverpool for medical

It has been reported on the Portuguese FA website that Simao has been given special dispensation to leave the national squad and travel to Liverpool to agree a deadline day deal. They are expecting him back in Portugal by 5:30pm so news of his signing will hopefully be confirmed in the next few hours. It is thought that he will cost in the region of £ 10 million.
Hopefully our search for a new right winger will be over with his acquisition.

no by the looks of it they want 15M euro (just over £10m).

but then again he is a bit good... :-D

I'd rather they spent serious money on a pacey attacking winger than any other position!

Simao is a pacy and skillful right winger. Just what we need although he may take time adapting to the physical side of the Premiership.

After the dissapointments so far this summer I'm waiting for confirmation before getting too excited.

Thats just what we need,it seems a good buy as long as he can put in quality crosses. Now rafa, go and get a centre half.

Liverpool offered £7M which was turned down. So we had to buy out the players contract for £10M, which is what we did with Luis Garcia last year when Barca didnt want him to go but we paid the £6M for the release of his contract. This is the same situation. Benfica have no choice as he has alraedy passed his medical but they are trying to delay the situation by saying they want Cisse as part exchange in the deal.
