Rafa sees Flo as the new wingman
After missing out on Simao & Figo, Rafa needs to look at new options for the right midfield within the current squad. An excellent candidate for the position is Florent Sinama Pongolle. He is still very young and has time to adapt to a new position. This is what Rafa had to say:"We've been looking for different solutions on the right hand side because we wanted to use Luis Garcia between midfield and attack, where I feel he played very well on Tuesday," said Benitez.
"Flo has the pace and intelligence to play there. He gives us a good option. I remember he played in the position very well against Arsenal last season. He played really well that day, as well as in the first half on Tuesday.
"There is an opportunity for him to learn the position."
If Pongolle does well then Rafa may have saved £ 10 million.

FLO IS RAW QUALITY, HE ALSO CARRIES THAT EXTRA SOMETHING THAT OTHER PREM PLAYERS LACK (PASSION)
I FEEL HE WILL ADAPT TO THIS POSITION AND WILL ALWAYS GIVE 110% WHEN CALLED UPON.

Flo is class has to potential to be as good as Henry etc.....Henry did his stint on the wing and look at him it improved his game alround probally :)
he has the trikey and pace to play there.
he also has the humilty to be told whatever rafa tells him. if he teaches young Flo to play there he will excell and be key part of our plans for the future..
I've never been a big fan of changing players positions but it's a lot better when you do it while they are young. I couldn't agree more about Flo having real passion. He deserves his chance in the team. Go on Flo!
Flo is another one of our youngsters with an old head on young shoulders. He has the necessary attitude to take on board whatever Rafa tells him and will only improve with experience. He also now seems a much stronger player.
i do not agree that flo deserve him a place in the first team altough his is a good youngster because we have quality midfielders like KEWELL,GERRARD,ZENDEN,GARCIA,ALONSO,SISSOKO and HAMANN
In reference to him in the arsenal game last season, remember that bit of skill on the left wing when he had his back to goal, ball was roled to him, dropped his shoulder (picked it back up ;-)) and totally sold 2 arsenal players, one of them viera i think.
also he helped a great deal against olympiakos, everyone goes on about gerrads goal, but SFP & mellor changed that tie for us.
I never doubt about his quality.
wherever he is playing he always prove to be a handful and he is not selfish either.
flo is everything, even though he is a foward he is willing to learn his pedigree on the right,he is also showing baros how its done
