Rafa happy with important win

Rafa was pleased with the victory yesterday even though it was by no means a vintage performance. Blackburn were defensively stubborn, particularly after the sending off, but the main thing is, as Rafa has stated, we won the three points:

"We knew we would be playing against a tough team and it would be difficult to break them down. They played with 10 men in the second half and made it tough for us but we tried to play football and pass the ball. "We could have won by more than one goal and Morientes could have had two goals but the most important thing was we won the game."

We now must build on this Premiership win and go on a run or we will be struggling again to grab the fourth spot.

Quite disappointed in the fact we are now talking about grabbing the 4TH(!) spot.

Decision to play Crouch with Cisse was a good one I think, with better service to those two I think we can score goals and go on a run. Hopefully when Gerrard returns Cisse will have kept on scoring and we will have the oppurtunity to see our front pairing have a go at defences with Stevie's support play.

But playing ugly and winning is no bad thing...at the end of the season this game will be remembered for one thing only, 3 points.

Good to hear from you again jimmy Mac. It's almost impossible to work out what is behind Rafa's thinking. Did he go with 4-4-2 just to play Blackburn? Or has he realised to succeed in the Premierhsip we need more than just Peter Crouch up front?
I'm not giving up on finishing above 4th yet. What I am saying though is we need to put a few wins together straight away to make it possible. Arsenal are really struggling this season which may even give us a chance of finishing 3rd.
