Will we return for Berbatov?

Bayer Leverkusen have confirmed that we made an enquiry for Dimitar Berbatov in the summer presumably before Peter Crouch was signed:
"There was an enquiry from Liverpool over the summer, although we haven’t heard from them ever since," Leverkusen's director of football, Rudi Voller, told Kicker.
Leverkusen did not qualify for the Champions League and will have problems balancing their books suggesting a sale for Berbatov may be a possibility.
As the Bulgarian is a very dangerous forward there is likely to be a race for his signature. Apparently Bayern Munich, Schalke and Arsenal are also interested however Leverkusen would prefer to sell to a foreign club. His price is rumoured to be in the region of £ 8 million.
Much will depend on the Cisse situation. Rafa is obviously not a great fan of Cisse and he may well be off loaded in January. Berbatov is more of a strong target man type of centre forward. Rafa seems to prefer these qualities in his strikers.
