Xabi ruled out of Chelsea game

Rafa has stated that Xabi will be rested on Tuesday. The Spanish midfield master has just come back from injury and Rafa does not want to take any chances with a busy schedule of games to come before the end of the year:

Benitez said: "Alonso won't be in the squad for the Chelsea game. He told me he wants to play but I said no, you must rest. All players want to play. "If it was a game that we needed to win to qualify then maybe he would have played but we have already qualified."

Although qualification is secure it's important to keep our good run going. It will also be a psychological boost to get a decent result at Stamford Bridge and topping the group would be nice. I'm not expecting Rafa to make too many changes on Tuesday.

To be fair, I disagree. Xabi Alonso is a pretty decent player.

Makes him a fucking rarity in the 'Pool squad, though.

Mark Fernandes i couldnt agree more.Liverpool are a very poor team. They got lucky by winning the European cup which saved Rafas job. The 4-1 hammering by Chelsea showed Liverpool up for what they really are. They are a one man team with steven gerrard the superstar surrounded by average and in kewell and crouches case below average footballers

I am a liverpool fan and think you are right about the state of our team. i think we will be battling with tottenham right down to the last day of the season for fourth spot. but i think we will come up short again.along with spurs we are better than the rest but not good enough to bother the top 3.

i think the state of football on merseyside in general is poor at the moment. tranmere are obviously shit, everton should get relegated and liverpool are average at best

Liverpool are clearly the only team that are going to be threatening Chavski in the next couple of years.

the Arse and Manure are goind down, and we are going up.

Moaninho rightly does not feel threatened by either Wenger or Ferguson. The reason for this being they aren't challenging him for either the Premiership or the European Cup.

He knows Rafa is a dark horse.
