Rafa tells players to prepare for rotation

Rafa has emphasised that he will continue to deploy his squad rotation policy and the players must be ready when selected. We already have two games in hand in the league and after the World Club Championship this could rise to four. There is no doubt some serious fixture congestion will hit us at some stage during the season. Rafa wants to ensure everyone stays fresh throughout the season. He had this to say on Liverpoolfc.tv:

"I've spoken to all of the players, some who are used a lot and some who are used differently. They all know there are a lot of games to play," he says. "At one point around Christmas I expect to play about three games in eight days. There is also the Champions League and Carling Cup to think about. "This is a big club, so every player here must be ready. Maybe you will be used in a week, maybe it will be in three weeks. "If the player isn't ready when he's needed it means he hasn't the right mentality and attitude for a big club. "You have to manage with the players you have. The players understand. They may want to play every week and every game, but it's impossible to play the same level all the time. They must be ready to rest too."

There are many positives to rotating the squad however I think we need to have a settled side for the the team to reach its full potential. The ideal scenario would be to rest one or two players at a time and not make wholesale changes.

So what is new with what he is saying. He has said he bought in players so that he could rest others since the start of the season. The fact remains that he does not use the strongest11 when it matters. I know he is a manager and I am just a know-nothing fan, but one does not need years of experience to know that the 4-5-1 formation he uses is useless in the premiership. We are getting matched by teams that we should be walking over with 7 players, nevertheless 11.

When Rafa starts to play the right way he has promised, then things will change. Rotating players and using half-beats like traore, zenden, and crouch (who though he has played well, he is useless upfront alone) every game, we will not be competing for a top-ten spot nevertheless 4th. I pray the day comes Rafa can stop the stubborness and start performing. Players have off days, and so to do managers. He needs a long hard look at where he wants to go, andstop blaming the fact we have no wodth. We had none last season and did far far better than this term. Plus we have sissoko, Cisse fit and fast and scoring, and a better defense, but when will he start using them as our first 11 and let the rest fight for a spot on the team
