Gerrard happy with Crouch

Steve Gerrard has spoken of the positive impression Peter Crouch has made since joining the club:

"I've been very impressed with him and thought he had a brilliant game against Chelsea in the Champions League," says the Liverpool captain. "He's posed a big problem for every defence he's played against so far this season and sometimes he's just unplayable. "What a lot of people tend to overlook when discussing Peter is that he's excellent on the floor as well as in the air. He's a great link player. He has been tremendous so far and I'm sure he'll help win us many games this season. "The only thing that is missing from his game right now is a goal but it wouldn't be fair to criticise him for that because he's been playing brilliantly otherwise. "If he keeps playing as well as he has been and getting in the right positions then I'm sure he'll knock one in sooner than later. "It would be great for him to get off the mark in the Premiership because as any striker will tell you the long you go without a goal the more you feel the pressure. "Peter is a popular figure in the dressing room and all the lads are willing him to score because he deserves it for his overall performances so far."

I think Peter Crouch has done plenty so far to prove his critics wrong however playing as a frontman he is likely to judged only on his goalscoring record.

I've nothing against Crouch, but from what I've seen so far he isn't very good. Yes he has skill and yes he's a handful, but the best strikers are dangerous opponents not difficult ones. Crouch will never score lots of goals, he appears to lack power and the insinct for scoring. When we get some wingers perhaps he'll prove me wrong - hope so.
