Rafa: We are nearly there

He said: "People have been talking about crisis but you can see that the team is stronger than last season.
"We can score goals, we can control the game, we can create chances and we've had clean sheet. As a manager, I only need to correct some mistakes.
"As I always say, after a Sunday there is a Monday. In football, you must be calm, you must analyse the situation with calmness and afterwards say 'okay, I need to do this and this'.
"We could say that this week has been really important but I hope to see a lot more wins over the season."
Once again Rafa has backed Peter Crouch after his important contribution in winning the decisive penalty:
"I think it was Harry, Zenden and Crouch who changed the game.
"Crouch gives to us many things - he can keep the ball in the air, he can give the players around him more space. He can give to us something that the other players can't. It's important to have more than one option.
"He has confidence. You can only score if you continue trying and trying. If you give up, then you won't. But the most important thing is the team winning the game."
The win after a midweek Champions League game is something that we need to replicate if we are to achieve the consistency that Rafa is after:
"It's another statistic that we can change and it will be important for our confidence for the future," the Spaniard said. "We want to play a lot of Champions League games this year and we need to win after them."
It's a shame that we now have an International break just as we are putting a decent run together. Hopefully though we can continue where we have left off in a couple of weeks.

BETTER THAN LAST SEASON . IS HE HAVING A LAUGH. LIVERPOOL ARE THE JOKE TEAM OF THE PREMIERSHIP. THEY WILL STRUGGLE TO GET A UEFA CUP PLACE THIS SEASON. IF THEY HADNT OF GOT VERY LUCKY BY WINNING THE EUROPEAN CUP LAST SEASON RAFA WOULD BE ON THE DOLE. LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE HOW MUCH OF LIVERPOOLS MONEY HE BLOWS ON SHITE PLAYERS IN THE NEXT TRANSFER WINDOW.
I've read your anti-Liverpool posts before, and like previously dismiss it as the usual diatribe of garbage. Yes, we may not be flying high at this point, but no medals are awarded in November. And luck plays a part for all teams, but surely disposing of the likes of Leverkusen (top of their group), Juventus (Italian Champions), Chelsea (Premiership Champions) and AC Milan (Outgoing Italian Champions) cannot all be put on luck. I look forward to having a good laugh at your pathetic analysis in May again!
I THINK I AM RIGHT IN SAYING CHELSEAS 4-1 HAMMERING OF LIVERPOOL SHOWED THEM UP FOR WHAT THEY REALLY ARE. NEVER HAS THERE BEEN A MORE OVERRATED TEAM IN THE PREMIERSHIP. YOU HAVE ONE WORLD CLASS PLAYER IN GERRARD BUT THE REST ARE VERY AVERAGE AT BEST. DONT TELL ME THAT CARRAGHER IS WORLD CLASS BECAUSE HE IS NOT. IF HE WAS HE WOULD START FOR ENGLAND. YOU ARE RIGHT THAT YOU WIN NOTHING IN NOVEMBER. JUST BE GRATEFUL IF YOUR PLAYERS WIN YOU A PLACE IN THE TOP TEN COME THE END OF THE SEASON
I might respect MARKFERDANDES's opinions a little more if he displayed the minimal co-ordination and wit required to turn off Caps Lock.
I can't even be bothered to demolish your flimsy argument as logic and coherent thought are clearly alien to you.
mark..... stop shouting?!!?
mark..... stop shouting?!!?
Couldnt agree more mark. liverpool are a poor team. the days when liverpool were a half decent side seem like a lifetime ago.
naveed you are a knob. you cant tell me liverpool werent lucky in winning the european cup. its like saying wimbledon werent lucky to win the fa cup.
Ah isn't this nice......more vitriol from jealous, bitter, twisted and ultimately sad muppets. I have waited for years to hear these kind of comments, it's music to my ears!!
Champs league winners, no 1 ranked team in the world (see http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.iffhs.de/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Diffhs%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D - for the International Federation of Football History and Statistics) and more and more unhappy supporters of other clubs.
Thanks for the entertainment MARK et al, long may it continue!!
