Reds may move for Pennant

According to reports this morning Liverpool are considering moving for Jermaine Pennant as a deal for Simao is looking unlikely.

There is no doubt Pennant has the footballing skills required to fill our right wing position. He is a winger who is able to run with the ball at speed and deliver dangerous crosses. However his off field antics have tarnished his reputation.

Benfica seem to have priced us out of a move for Simao. Pennant is unlikely to cost anywhere near as much as the Portuguese International. The question is whether Rafa will risk making a move for someone with a history of trouble. The way he dealt with Diouf when he arrived at the club suggests he won't.

Quality can't be measured in £Millions alone, otherwise Liverpool would've kept Diouf! Pennant is and will be an exceptional player in a great side. He has pace, great balance, works hard and has some of the best deliveries which will suit both Crouch & Morientes. £4M will be a good deal for Benitez

He is a useful player but who, apart from us, want him? Says it all. The guy's a wild card and Rafa only wants top characters at the club. As Rick 'the wallet' said, we can't afford more mistakes in the transfer market. Srna is the one to get.

Good question..who apart from us want him? Well of the big teams only one team is in need of a right winger. That happens to be us. Man U have Ronaldo, Chelsea have Robben, Duff, Phillips etc, Arsenal have their Pires', Hlebs etc. Tottenham have lots of midfielders. That could and would be the reason nobody else needs him. I think he could do very well for Liverpool.

If Rafa has a way to change his off field attitude, he would be quite the right one with proven capabilities as a right winger in the EPL. Wenger found it hard to control him and so sold him. Otherwise the other choices could be joaquin (Real Betis-expensive?), pienaar (Ajax), Srna (Russian League?), Robben (Chelsea, although highly unlikely to land him).

Simao's price would be too expensive to LFC as may Joaquin be too. Unless Simao has a desire to be a Red and make them known to his club, I think his price will stay high up. The fact that Benfica is still in the Champions League may be reluctant to sell him next month.

he doesn't have an attitude problem, the drink driving was an error which he apologised for (Tny Adams anyone?).

The drunk at training thing was a load of b*llocks. He sought, and got, prior permission from Steve Bruce to go to a party one sat night following a match.
Brum played crap and Bruce decided he would call the players in for training on the sunday.
Jermaine duly turned up, only to be crucified by the press.

This is a player that certainly has the talent, but he needs to be loved.

You shldn't be questioining the potential (although it looks v likely from what I'm told) signing of one of the best crossers in the league.
