How much does Rafa want Cisse?
Rafa had this to say this morning about the French Striker:"The rumours about Cisse were already going around before we beat CSKA Moscow in the Super Cup last week, and he still managed to score two goals for us that night. Cisse knows what he has to do - work hard, try to score goals and stay fit all season."
But Cisse has been troubled by the rumours as he explained to the News of The World:
"I heard Liverpool were in talks with other clubs behind my back - and that hurts. Everyone knows that being on the right is not where I want to play."
"I can't help but wonder about the club's attitude, but I'm prepared to put my head down and keep battling. "It's not my best position but the manager puts me there. I'm prepared to do it for the good of the club but it's difficult.
"It's a World Cup year and I need to win a place in the French side. At the moment that dream is under threat.
"I'm not like Michael Owen at Newcastle - I'm not guaranteed my place. I've spoken to my international manager and he told me I need to play as much as possible.
"He said I should go where I want as long as I am playing regularly.
"I ask myself, can I be happy only playing every other game? I can't help but wonder about the club's attitude towards me, but I'm prepared to put my head down and keep battling."
Perhaps Cisse will perform better in the knowledge his is playing for his place both for Club & Country and Rafa knows this is the way to get the best out of him.

I expect to be panned over this but I reckon its the only downside to our transfer negotiations. I would have hoped that we could have been a bit nicer to Cisse, but I understand that Rafa didn't want to lie to him or us - hence the non commitment until the window was closed. Also, I'm not as bothered as most on the signings we missed out on. We're open to being milked due to the CL win. Pay the right price and don't become foolish like Chelsea. Everyone knows that you can add a few million on if they come in for a player. We've made our point, we won't be held to ransom.
