Pongolle backs Cisse to be Djibrilliant
Florent Sinama Pongolle has spoken about his compatriot and predicts he will establish himself as a top Premiership striker:
"Djibril is my friend and I was very happy for him to score in the Super Cup. Djibril loves scoring goals, that's what he does best and he only wants to play football and score goals for Liverpool. "He scored two goals in the Super Cup and set the other goal up. You see the joy on his face when he scores a goal and you see how much it means to him. I know how much it means to him after his injury and he wants to do well for Liverpool. "I think he will score lots of goals this season in the Premiership. I watched him in France and he scored lots of goals and I am very confident he can do the same in England. I think Djibril will be brilliant in the Premiership this season.
I am also sure that Cisse has what it takes to silence all of his critics. It's just a question of where Rafa decides to play him.

Parry said "It's never ideal trying to do business on the last day because things can go wrong and then there's no room to manoeuvre. Clearly, they waited on the owen deal before deciding which target to sign. Why?in case the $10 million bid for owen was accepted.
The whole time rafa hav been saying that RW and CB was a priority,so why wait till the last minute.
SO, WHO TO BLAME FOR OUR FAILURE TO SIGN A RW AND CB :
1.SUPER SELFISH MICHAEL OWEN.
2.PATHETIC ENGLISH MEDIA.
3.IDIOTIC FORMER PLAYERS(LEGENDS) AND MANAGERS,PUNDITS,AND STEVEN GERRARD.
FOR PUTTING ALL THE PRESSURE ON THE CLUB AND MANAGER TO RESIGN MICHAEL OWEN DESPITE OF THE PLAN MADE PRIOR TO OWEN'S ISSUE.
AND
4.RAFA BENITEZ WHO DO NOT HAVE
THE GUT TO SAY OUT LOUD THAT MICHAEL OWEN, OTHER THAN THE FACT THAT HE'S ENGLISH AND A LOCAL LAD, IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY FOR THE CHAMPION OF EUROPE.
I can see you're quite upset about Mickey not coming back to anfield (as am I by the way)! but I find it impossible to blame someone for wanting to play football every week. He said he wants to come back to Liverpool. Newcastle shaft us by bidding £17m for him (too much). Liverpool refused to be taken for ransom by Real (a wise decision). Mickey had a choice, go to Newcastle and be a crowd favorite or sit on the bench at Real for a season. He was stuck and so chose to go and play some football in the North East.
Owen was overpriced but the boy can play football you've got to give him that. At least now he might be on form for England next summer when Stevie, Jamie and those other blokes show the rest of the world how to play football!
I also think our transfer failings have little to do with the english media, pundits, former players and least of all Steven Gerrard. The Owen situation only really arose in the last couple of weeks, before that there was plenty of time for Parry to bring in the players Rafa had on his wish list.
It's time to get behind the players we do have. Our squad is better than last year and I'd happily let chelski borrow the league for another year and take European cup number six!
whats this got to do with the news story above. Does it matter who is to blame, we didnt sign anyone, end of story, move on and get behind the lads who until yesterday seeimngly were good enough! Who need owen anyway, he was always injured or 'returning to full fitness' anyway! I perdonally think Cisse is better than him anyway
Cisse is a great player who has fire... i just wish he learns to carry on playing instead of stopping /slowing down ( kinda like Jimmy Floyd Hassel) whenever a pass to him is lost. He has to remember his duties and not get caught not paying attention when everyone else in the team is working their socks off trying to get to the ball.
Owen made a decision that suited HIM. At the end of the day , if Owen felt he could play for Newcastle OR LFC , I would not mind NFC having him if they made a better offer. I agree LFC should not pay more than 12 mil for Owen and if that deal could not be worked out, then it would have been best for all parties concerned that what happened happened.
Better cisse than owen.
My point is that, owen left a year ago, when he thought lfc could not win any trophy for him,he refused to risk his england chance by turning down newcastle offer or pehaps wait till january before moving to liverpool. These facts just say how little he care for the club but himself.
did toti turn down contract offer, so he could move to madrid or other italian team.
Or alan shearer complaining that newcastle hav never won any trophy.
