Reds after another Spanish International?
There have been stories circulating in Spain that we are interested in 26 year old Basque midfielder Pablo Orbaiz. He is a solid midfield man who can play on the right and knows how to strike a dead ball. As is the case with the majority of Spanish players he has a buy out clause. This is believed to be around £ 16 million. However Bilbao are likely to let him go for less:
"We have only heard the rumours," stated Athletic president Fernando Lamikiz. "But the situation is very clear.
"Just as was the case for Del Horno, the player is not for sale, but if a club is prepared to pay what we consider his market price we will be obliged to study their offer.
"The key to any transfer is the size of the fee because our manager would need a good player to replace him."
The Spanish International would obviously welcome a move to the European Champions:
"Liverpool is a great club and it would be a dream, but right now I want to deal in reality," he declared.
It looks like Rafa is building a team that would win La Liga, hopefully it will be good enough to win the Premiership aswell.

Never heard of him! But as with sissoko i'm sure rafa knows all about him.
unfortunately it's the same old case of there being more scope on the european market for less money. I can't think of a decent right sided player in england whose club would a) be willing to sell and b) ask a reasonable tranfer fee if they were...
and he does know spain so logically he's always going to go there
Its the same old story really, the english market is in turmoil, No one apart from Chelsea can realistically source a squad from these shores.
Fergie knew it which is why he concentrated on youth development and the majoriy of his dominating team were Brought through the ranks...(Becks, Scholes etc.). Wenger at arsenal has to buy from france and other parts of Europe and has done wonders on the budget that is closer to the likes of Villa than to United and Chelsea...look at the results!
Chelsea are the only team who can buy players from their premierhip rivals to fill their ranks..I think they have done really well but I would be suprised if it goes on forever, look at Real Madrid. 2-3 years from now if chelsea havent won everything going do you think Ambramovich will sit by and give Maureen and his players time to find form? I don't
I think that Rafa is going through a similar proces to Wenger and Ferguson and that is the key to long term success. Bringing in Spanish players to fill the first team and give them playing style he want, and getting youngsters in at an age were they cost very little (Hobbs, Barragan...) and will save us Millions in years to come.
Orbaiz is a quality player, £16mil is too much to pay for sure but I know Rafa wont pay over the odds. Personally i'd like to see Simao or Jaoquin on the right, but Flo looks like the guy for the job in the next few months
I think the deal for joaquin is more likely after our win the other day. If Betis are out of Europe in January and we have qualified for the next stage we will have more money and Joaquin may want to leave if they aren't doing too well in La Liga. I am impressed by Joaquin's loyalty though. He is 24 now, no longer a youngster, doesn't moan but still stays at his hometown club despite various other options.
