Carra: Euro Champs should be Premiership Challengers

Carra has stated that we can afford no more slip ups if we are to close the gap on Chelsea. He feels that any draws from now on would be costly and we should be looking to win every game showing the type of consistency that is required if we want to win the title:
"The country probably wants us to beat them and it was a similar situation last time," he said. "Supporters do look on enviously at the sort of players they can go out and buy, all those superstars. But I'm not having a go at them. If we had an Abramovich coming in at our club it would be great and I'm sure the supporters would be delighted. "If there is a team that everybody thinks is the best, then there's a feeling that people want them to get beaten. It happened to Manchester United through much of the last decade and to Liverpool before that. "The challenge for us now is to catch them up. That's going to be hard because of the way they've moved forward and you can't deny that. A few years ago getting a draw away from home was a good result but now with Chelsea every time you draw you lose points to them. "Maybe you could afford to lose five or six games and still win the title. But now if you lose two or three you can be out of it. They don't look as if they're going to lose many at all. But we've got to be genuine challengers for the title. We're European champions and the next thing has to be to look to win our domestic league. If we can beat Chelsea that would send out a message. "In the Champions League last season we beat Milan, Chelsea and Juve and if we can beat teams of that quality we know we can do it in the Premiership. "The problem ever since I've been at this club has been consistency. I can sense that desperation and hunger in the fans. It's been far too long for a club of this size and the money we've spent over the years. We should've been a lot closer."
I believe we will need to change our playing style if we are to win the majority of our games. There can be no more sitting back waiting for things to happen. We must attack with purpose from the first whistle.
