Gerrard ready for Chelsea

Stevie G is predicting a win against Chelsea following our promising performance on Wednesday. He had this to say to Liverpool's official website:

"Everyone is saying that they are invincible and unbeatable, and that no-one was going to take any points off them but we have proved to ourselves that the gap is not that big," Gerrard told Liverpoolfc.tv in an exclusive interview ahead of the big game. "I think the first half was pretty even and that we cancelled each other out a bit but we made all the running in the second half. Overall I'd say we controlled the game and were the team that looked like they wanted to win it more.
"Nevertheless the result on Wednesday gives us is a massive belief that we can match them again and take the game to them. It also instils a confidence in us that we can claim all three points. We know we can get at Chelsea and that we can beat them."

"It is a hugely important game, that's for sure, but everytime we play at home is a 'must win' for Liverpool. Three points are a necessity for us whoever we are playing and we'll be approaching it like we do any other."

I am also confident about the game ahead. I think it will be more open than the game on Wednesday as I am expecting us to play a bit further up the pitch and closer to Peter Crouch.

On paper Chelsea should beat us more than we beat them. They have a squad that is effectively two first teams, whereas most of the top teams have a first 11 and some good squad players. They also have an excellent manager (check the Porto record, it's amazing).
We, however, have an amazing manager too. He will make Liverpool stronger and stronger. Chelsea better get ready for more pain from Liverpool.

First of all lets just make a few things clear....its ot those at chelsea that are saying its all over and chelsea are unbeatable etc etc etc..its the lovely British Press.....

I would think it would ber a sad state of affairs if teams like Liverpool, Arsenal, United didn't expect to beat any team at home.

Surely none of this needs to be said....I would expect Liverpool to be going out on Sunday, looking and playing for a win and not sitting behind 10 men hoping to get a lucky break.

As a chelsea fan I find all this talk about Chelsea being scared, Liverpool are better all a bit of a joke.

Liverpool are a very good team and I'd expect them to be up there at the end of the season pushing for a champ league spot as a minimum....

No need for all this verbal rubbish from either side..just get on and play the game...

Well said 12.37PM. As a liverpool fan it's nice to hear an opposition fan talk a bit of sense for a change, BUT, you can't say that Chelsea haven't been talking themselves up...What about Kenyon and his "group of one" comment??? I don't think I've ever heard any CEO of any club (English anyway) display that sort of arrogance before a league, not even Kenyon himself when at Man United.

That aside, Liverpool fans know all about the press stirring things up, as (we believe anyway) there has been an agenda against liverpool for donkeys years. The fact of the matter is, winning is the most important thing and if you have a way of winning that can guarantee results you'd be a fool to change it, and mourinho is no fool. in fact, he's the second best manager in the league ;-)

1:53pm....please dont bring Kenyon into it....he doesn't know what he's talking about..and he shouldn't be opening his mouth and by doing so putting pressure on Jm and the team.

Its also the nature of being successful that you get the press on your back, liverpool, united, arsenal have all been there and been the press kicking boys.

personally I'm looking forward to Sunday and hopefully a better game than Weds one.
