Rafa not interested in Joaquin
Unfortunately Rafa has said that we have no interest in Joaquin and reports claiming the player's agent was at Anfield last week were rubbish. He had this to say on Liverpoolfc.tv:
"These stories are false," said the Liverpool manager. "I keep reading in the Spanish press that we are trying to take Joaquin to England. The agent did not come to the Chelsea game and we have never made any offer or suggested other players as part of a transfer deal. "Our position is clear. We are not interested in bringing the player to Anfield and I can only assume that people in Spain are trying to move the player out of Betis."
Bad news I'm afraid it would have been a dream if someone like Joaquin had signed. It looks like Simao will now be the main transfer option for our right midfield.

Simao Sabrosa is an AWESOME player (proof - goal against the Mancs)!
Only reason he didn't join before the transfer deadline is because he is so revered by the Benfica fans! He will be a better signing than Joaquin.
whose
who is quicker though? we need world beaters. the fullbacks at top clubs are quick. i dunno how quick simao is.
Why are all fans so obsessed with speed?
If it was a 100m sprint maybe it would be important, but it aint no good if you can't cross or shoot!
Saying that though he does, from what I have seen of him playing at Benefica
look pretty quick, with 2 good feet.
I think a midfield with him on the right and Gonzales (who according to a source of mine in Spain is absolutely bloody sensational)on the left will be the answer to our width problems.
speed is essential for the english game. powerful runners can just simply run past players without using skill.
but yea...i will be watching benfica's games with interest. his free kick against manchester united was awesome.
