Sven wants to take very special Crouch to World Cup

Sven recognises the quality that Peter Crouch possesses. In a strong show of support he has almost confirmed, already, that he will be in the squad for the World Cup. He is sure that he will improve and put his lack of goals down to low confidence:

He said: "I would like to have Crouch in the World Cup squad. I don't say, for certain, that will happen and it depends how he gets on. But he is very special and I should like to have him.
"I know he is not a goalscorer yet but he does give you so many options. I am sure he will score goals and he showed that for Southampton with 16 goals last season. It is all about confidence. When he played for us he did a very good job. He is still young. He is not very experienced but every game he plays for Liverpool he gets more and more experience."

One possible reason for his lack of confidence is the way he was treated by the England fans even though he played well. Sven has called on the fans to stop the pathetic booing:

"It's a pity that he is being booed like that," he added. "I would ask the fans to leave him alone. He will not get better by being booed. He's honest and hard-working. Against Austria he covered more ground than any other England player. That's very strange because normally a centre-forward doesn't do that, but he did."

I think Sven is trying his best to build up Peter Crouch's confidence. I am sure though once he notches his first goal this season we will see a different player.
