Rafa Still After Uruguayan Defender

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is determined to land Sao Paulo defender Diego Lugano.

The Uruguay international confirmed an offer from Liverpool was turned down last week as Sao Paulo want to keep the defender for December's Club World Championships in Japan.
As we are also playing in Japan a meeting may be arranged to agree a transfer.

Yet again though Real Madrid could pose a problem with one of our transfers as Lugano's agent, Juan Figer, has apparently given Madrid first refusal.
