Reserves boss happy with new youngsters
Hugh Mcauley has already been impressed by the perfomances of Rafa's new young recruits for Liverpool's second string. He told the club's official website:
"Miki Roque is playing regular football for us this season at centre half and he is a very resilient defender who puts his foot in and competes very well. He picks up second balls and his distribution is by and large very good. He is a good competitor, he understands the game very well and we are getting 100 per cent out of him in every game.
"Our new boy from Austria Besian Idrizaj made his first start for us as a second striker and he generally plays there in that position. He needs more time to adapt but once he does that he will be a good player for us. He is an asset, likes getting forward and can score goals."
Having seen the highlights of the last reserves game it is clear that Barragan is making very good progress as well on the right of midfield.

It is imperative that Liverpool have a crop of youngsters coming through both the reserves and the Academy that are capable of breaking into the first team! Under Houllier there was a dramatic lack of homegrown players breaking into the first team. I do think that with Benitez' guidance and scouting network that over the next few years we will see more and more players breaking through into the first team.
