Rafa wants wingers

Rafa feels that we will need a proper winger before we can see the best of Peter Crouch:

"We knew when we signed Crouch he would need support," said Benitez. "We tried, but now we need more time. He's played really well so far and shown good movement. He's won a lot of balls on the floor.
"When he gets it, he gives other players more time to move forward. We know we must support him better, but sometimes that's not been possible.
"It's difficult for us to always give him the right service. People have said we've not crossed enough balls for him. It was the same with Morientes. I know we need to cross more for him and the quality has to be better, but sometimes you don't have the players to do it.
"I must manage with the team I have and I am happy with what the players have done. We've used Sinama and Cisse on the right, and we're using Garcia, Zenden and Riise on the left.
"We want players to get to the by-line and cross but it's not easy for them. It depends on the style of the player."
I think the return of Harry Kewell will help although a new winger together with a strike partner for Crouch will bring the best results.

from that comment its safe to assume Rafa is not happy with guys on the left either !Asside from that there is nothing new here that we didnt know already , Hopefully Harry can return to form and if we get a new right winger in Jan , until then maybe he should give flo a decent run in the side he look ok when he came on for the first game againt chelski!

If rafa thinks crouch is not getting the crosses, then he should not keep playing him.he should play cisse/morientes,2 strikers that can invent ,not wait only for crosses.

new stike parner?????
Anyone remember this fella called Cisse???
Seeing the way we played on Sunday i thuink we definetly need a new centre back as Hypia legs are definetly not what they use to be.
I think we also need a right winger. Bring Joaquin/Simao in and i believe the goal scroing will follow.

SAMI look f%^ked if ya ask me , One new center half plus a R/S midfielder , Plus going 4-4-2 every now and then !!this club has been missing quality wingers for years all thanks to Houlier dislike of the same. But we have to forget about Jan its a long way away and focus on what we have !! Look at our current goal difference -2 after six games come on !!!! give cisse flo and kewell a run !!!

Simoa has been playing left wing for his current club, benfica. I think if he comes in then he can add to the left wing position. Juaqim plays on the right he may be a true right wing

So these two player combined we will have world class wingers.

We just need a defender to cover

Yeah and don't forget Gonzalez will probably join us too and he's a left winger.

we need to play 4-4-2 man u did it on saturday well they played 4-4-1-1 and it was the best they have played in a long time. we do not have the player's to play the way rafa wants Garcia is very good in europe but he is not strong enough for the English legue and what is with crouch up front cisse has power and pace i dont understand rafa's thinking and im worried about my club"Rafa if you read this don't be to proud to says you have made mistake's we all do just learn from them and its cool"keeping the faith WE WIN TOGETHER WE LOSSE TOGERTHER

Benitez has lost the plot, bought badly and his tactics are rubbish. Parry isn't doing his job and Liverpool need a complete overhaul. Crouch is a waste of money and Kuyt should have been bought. Kewell will solve nothing and should be ditched as should Morientes. If Liverpool don't buy a quality CH, left back two wingers and a CF who can guarantee 20 PL goals it's Mid Table at best for years.

He knows we dont have true LW & RW.. But why he still wants to play 4-5-1.. Is he stupid or what??? Back to 4-4-2!! He got strikers for that.. Show Traore, Morientes, Josemi, Garcia the exit!! N sign Joaqim, Juninho (lyon) n Gallas!!

Hello lads,Im back, just like I said.A few weeks ago I said we would pay for having Traore in our team and a lot of you had a go at me.Well where are you now?He was muck on Sunday, every time he had the ball he either gave it away or just played a back pass. The lad couldn't cross a bridge. With second rate players like that you only get what you deserve, nothing.

To experiment with 4-5-1 is one thing. To persist with 4-5-1 in the premiership when it clearly constantly does not work and backfires is quite a different matter. And to leave a world-class striker on the bench - who has scored 6 in 7 - while Crouch has scored none is just adding salt to a wound.

Benitez knows that he is wrong, but pride and stubborness seem to take precedent. We won the champions league, and that was fantastic, but the difference between us and a team like Arsenal or Chelsea, is that they adapt and change formations depending on the opposition. Chelsea play 4-3-3, and incredibly have scored almost double the goals to anyone else. It is not simply down to better players, because we have players that won the CL. It is down to the premiership historically being a more attacking game, and European games more defensive and slow. We will do well in Europe again, but we will be lucky to finish in the top 10 unless Benitez changes the formation and gives Cisse a chance to play no matter what his personal feeling toward Cisse are.

He is the manager, and therefore his job is to choose the best team to win, not the team he gets along with best. When the club pay the millions they do in salaries, to both players and manager, you play your best team and leave friendship off the pitch. Cisse is fantastic. He can never shine from the bench, and I am sorry to say but as good as Benitez is, he is dead wrong on this one. It will unfortunately take us finishing second half of the table and in no competitions next year for him to wake up. Thankfully we are still at the beginning of the season so we have all the time to change our fate, but Benitez needs to get over his illustrious successes and start to fix the problem here and now.

As other teams are getting better and stronger, we are going backward. So what if we drew to Birmingham when we lost there last season. Those are games we should be winning 4-0, along with games against Spurs and bloody Sunderland. Manure I would settle for 2-0 to us, but to have scored 4 in 7 as a team is poor to say the least, with only bottom feeders Everton scoring fewer. The time for change is now, not in january.
